Darryl Chin (b.Singapore) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from the University of Auckland, where he developed a multi-faceted practice that oscillates between the fields of design, moving image, and installation to explore the impacts of technology on contemporary life.

Utilising a range of new media tools to examine the collision of corporate and cultural sectors, Chin incorporates technological optimisation into his artmaking and storytelling processes. By materialising screen-based impressions which contrast digital aesthetics with the aura of the handmade, his practice drives interactions between on-site participants and digital media through processes of transformation.

Chin has collaborated with local artist-run groups and theatre makers to create activations, plays, and his work has been exhibited in a range of spaces across Tāmaki Makaurau. Notable shows and exhibitions include Yāṉum, Artham Dance Company at The Auckland Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC) This Room is an Island, Choreographed by with Yin-Chi Lee at Te Pou Theatre (2024), How to Throw a Chinese Funeral, by Jill Kwan, Basement Theatre (2023), This Room is an Island, Choreographed by with Yin-Chi Lee at Black Box Theatre (2022), Silo In The Sky and 2069, All My Friends at Silo6 (2021), Unlined – IN TOUCH at the Asia New Zealand Foundation (2020)
